Matrimonial and Family Law :
The breakdown of a relationship can be an extremely stressful and distressing time. In addition to dealing with the emotional impact of the breakdown, you will need to think about the practical consequences of living apart. There will be immediate issues to address, such as where you will live, who will look after the children, and so on. In the longer term, issues such as divorce and financial matters will need to be dealt with.
It is extremely important that you find a solicitor who you trust and who will be able to lead you through the complex area of matrimonial law. Ruth is a specialist family law solicitor, who is a member of "Resolution", an association of family solicitors. The Resolution code of practice advocates a conciliatory approach to family breakdown, with the aim of reducing acrimony, minimising emotional distress and keeping costs down.
The majority of Ruth's new work comes from personal recommendations. Ruth is always happy to have an initial, informal chat free of charge so that you can see whether you think that you would be happy for her to deal with your matter and whether you think you would be able to work together with her.
Provided you wish to proceed, you would make an appointment for an initial meeting. Cuff & Gough offer an initial appointment of an hour at a fixed fee of £70 plus VAT.
