The breakdown of a relationship can be an extremely stressful and distressing time.  In addition to dealing with the emotional impact of the breakdown, you will need to think about the practical consequences of living apart. There will be immediate issues to address, such as where you will live, who will look after the children, and so on.  In the longer term, issues such as divorce and financial matters will need to be dealt with.
